Shukarwar Gap Shap with Harsimrat | "We speak Punjabi in the home"

My eldest has is 4.5 years old and I have to say 1000 times a day "Ghar wich asi Punjabi bolde haa" meaning "We speak Punjabi in the home"

Does anyone else say this?

I love how my eldest is learning English - both reading and speaking. I love his variety in his vocab and love him trying out new words. Yesterday he said to me "Mummy, I'm busy reading the business section of my newspaper"

I laughed so hard! Who knows where he learnt this from

Then I politely reminded him "Ghar wich asi Punjabi bolde haa"

For me and my family, it's really important that we speak Punjabi at home. I want them to continue speaking to their grandparents and great-grandparents in Punjabi and building that bond with them.

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing my boys fluently speaking Punjabi with DadaJi and DadiJi - and Par DadiJi too!

I hope you and your family have a great weekend ahead!

Try sprinkle some Punjabi vocab into your weekend. Let's keep our maa boli alive, one word at a time.

PS: Shukawar Gap Shap means Friday Chit Chat. I hope you enjoyed today's blog. I look forward to blogging again next week!
