Top Tip!
I say to all of my students, don't be scared of using Punglish.
Start with a fully English sentence and add some Punjabi words. This will increase your vocab.
As the vocab builds, keep talking. Anything and everything. This will increase your sentence structure.
Listen to others speak.
Ask them to speak slowly.
Then as you listen and speak, you will grow your confidence.
But it all starts with adding a few Punjabi words to your sentence here and there.
So many underestimate how much value there is in mixing two languages.
You do not need to wait until your Punjabi is "perfect" before you start speaking. That day rarely comes.
Children learn through listening, copying, trying, getting things wrong and trying again.
Adults learn the same way too but many are scared to start.
So next time you're chatting to your parents, partner, kids or friends, challenge yourself: can you sneak in 3 Punjabi words today?
Small steps. Little wins. They all add up.
Let me know what 3 words you are going to add into your conversation today...
