Can I tell you something that surprises a lot of people?
I was an adult when I learnt to speak Punjabi fluently.
I went to Punjabi School.
I learnt how to read, write, listen and speak.
I even passed my GCSE and A Level Punjabi.
And yet…I had no confidence speaking Punjabi in the real world.
I knew the words.
I knew the grammar.
But when it came to actually speaking, my mind went blank.
When I finally started speaking Punjabi out loud, it wasn’t easy.
There were laughs.
There were sniggers.
There were moments I wanted to run away.
But on the other side of that discomfort, a whole new world opened up.
I could finally speak to my grandparents.
I could join in conversations with my family.
I could understand what was being said at the Gurdwara.
I realised how much I had been missing out on, conversations, laughter, connection, love.
And here’s the part that matters most to me now:
I don’t want that experience for my students.
That’s why I designed my Live Taught Punjabi Speaking Programme to be a safe place to learn as an adult.
We don’t throw you into the deep end.
We learn:
• Through role plays and flashcards, so you know what to say
• By practising together, so you gain clarity before speaking in the real world
• In small groups, away from judgement, eyes and ears
It’s a space where you’re allowed to try, pause, repeat, and grow, without embarrassment.
And yes, we also help you move from:
“Sat Sri Akaal, Kida”
to
“Sat Sri Akaal, Tuhada Ki Haal Hai”
…and beyond, into more confident and formal sentence structures.
Here’s what the programme includes:
• 6 months
• Weekly live taught sessions
• Hands-on practice
• Small group learning
• Role plays & interactive games
