Punjabi isn’t just a language, it’s respect in words

There’s something truly beautiful about the Punjabi language and it’s not shared often enough.

Punjabi isn’t just about vocabulary or sentence structure.
It’s about
respect.

We show love and respect for our elders not just through
what we say, but how we say it.

Our parents, grandparents, and elders do so much for us.
And using polite, respectful language is one small but meaningful way of honouring them.

So how does this show up in Punjabi?

We avoid using “
Tu” (you) and “Tera” (yours) when speaking to elders, or to anyone we want to show respect to.

Instead, we use:
• “
Tusi” (you)
• “
Tuhada” (yours)

For example:

Tera naam ki hai?
becomes
Tuhada naam ki hai?
= What is your name?

It’s a small shift in language but it makes a big difference in how we come across.

Punjabi is full of these quiet, beautiful ways of showing love, care, and respect.

And this is why learning Punjabi isn’t just about saying the right words.
It’s about knowing
when, how, and with whom to use them.

That’s exactly what we focus on inside my
